Dr Leong specialises in the surgery of hip and knee, completing his medical degree at The University of Sydney in 1995.
The arthroscopic/sports surgery component includes hip arthroscopic surgery (management of labral tears, femoro-acetabular/ extra-articular impingement, chondral injury, loose bodies), arthroscopic and open sports knee surgery (meniscal repair, ligament reconstruction, chondral reparation and osteotomy) and all facets of arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
The arthroplasty component involves high volume simple and complex primary reconstruction and revision reconstruction (including managing with severe bone and soft tissue loss) of the hip, knee and shoulder.
Dr Leong completed his orthopaedic training under the Sydney Orthopaedic Training Programme in 2004. During his training, he completed a Masters of Surgery through The University of New South Wales and won the Allen Fredrick Dwyer Award for Best Research Paper. Dr Leong undertook surgical subspecialty Fellowships in surgery of the hip and knee.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, Member of the Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Associate Fellow of the Australasian Orthopaedic Association and Member of Australian Medical Association.
