Dr Coleman is a graduate of The University of Auckland School of Medicine and the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association Training Programme. In 2006, he gained his specialist qualification in orthopaedic surgery and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).
He is a Fellowship trained knee and shoulder surgeon having spent two years in Australia and the United Kingdom. Dr Coleman undertook a Melbourne Knee Fellowship focusing on joint replacement including computer assisted surgery and arthroscopic knee reconstruction. He worked at the Perth Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Centre and was involved in computer assisted surgery, joint replacement and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder. He then travelled to the United Kingdom specialising in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder including complex knee ligament reconstruction and arthroscopic shoulder surgery and joint replacement.
Dr Coleman works in private practice in Remuera and Albany and Botany Junction and is also a Consultant at Middlemore Hospital.
