Dr Herald specialises in the management of sports injuries, trauma and arthritis of the shoulder, elbow and knee and is a current examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).
He has a Masters of Sports Medicine and studied as a Fellow to Associate Professor Leo Pinczewski with a focus on the knee and with Dr Daniel Biggs with a focus on the shoulder. Dr Herald completed his orthopaedic training at Mt Sinai School of Medicine in New York City in 2006 and is now forging his own pathway as a leader in both knee and shoulder surgical care.
Dr Herald has a public position at Bankstown Hospital where he is a senior orthopaedic consultant. He holds the position of Conjoint Lecturer at The University of Western Sydney and is a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
He is a driven surgeon constantly pushing the envelope to new levels of care. He was the first Australian surgeon to perform a patient specific reverse total shoulder operation and is an early adopter of technology such as the Apex robotic total knee replacement.
