Dr O'Sullivan's particular interest is in hip replacement including primary replacement, both conventional and resurfacing replacements, focusing on revision hip replacement. He also has particular interest in arthroscopic hip surgery.

He graduated from The University of New South Wales with Honours in 1987 and subsequently completed his Post Graduate orthopaedic training in 1997. In 1998, Dr O’Sullivan completed a Fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the Institute of Bone & Joint Diseases in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, followed by a Fellowship in hip replacement surgery at Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter, UK.

On returning to Australia in 1999, Dr O’Sullivan completed a six-month Fellowship in joint replacement surgery with Dr William Walter following which he joined Dr Walter's practice for a period of four years. He commenced practice in 2004.
