Mr Rice specialises in foot, ankle, hip and knee joint replacement, arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. He was born and educated in Melbourne and has trained as an orthopaedic surgeon in Australia and overseas.
He completed his medical degree at Monash University in 1992 and, following orthopaedic training in Victoria, was admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005. Mr Rice spent two years in Oxford, UK as a Fellow of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
In 2006, Mr Rice completed a hip and knee Fellowship, specialising in primary and revision joint replacement, hip resurfacing surgery and uni-compartmental knee replacement. In 2007, he completed a foot and ankle Fellowship focusing on primary and revision ankle replacement surgery, ankle and hind foot fusion surgery and ankle arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery of the forefoot.
During the Fellowship, he was involved in clinical practice, research and postgraduate training. Mr Rice joined the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in 2008 and has Orthopaedic Surgeon Consultant appointments at Dandenong Hospital and Monash Medical Centre.
